Job Description
Position: Specialist, Human Resources
Department: Executive Office
Exemption Status: Exempt
Position Reports to: Vice President, Human Resources
General Description
The specialist, human resources is responsible for general HR administration, which will include
providing HR support in the areas of recruitment and on-boarding, benefits administration, staff
training and development, IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility), and employee
relations.
Responsibilities
(including, but are not limited to the following)
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Facilitate an effective and efficient recruitment process for open positions (management of position postings, initial applicant screenings, conduct reference checks and oversee management of background checks)
- Counsel hiring managers throughout interview process
- Track and analyze job posting patterns
- Work with department heads and internal teams (IT, accounting) to create successful onboarding experience for new team members to include introductory meetings with each department and coordinate job related tools and resources training
- Develop and maintain relationships with career centers of local colleges, universities, and schools of hospitality management with the goal of strengthening applicant base for entry level positions and internships
Benefits Administration & Education
- Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and on-going new hire enrollment with benefits consultants
- Coordinate and facilitate quarterly benefits educational sessions
- Manage closing of benefits for exiting employees
Training & Development
- Collaborate with department leaders to identify employee development needs and match with appropriate training resources
- Schedule and moderate educational meetings for staff (diversity, equity and inclusion, workplace civility, benefits)
- Counsel managers on performance evaluation process and provide coaching on performance meeting delivery
IDEA
- Serve on ACVB’s internal IDEA team (Inclusion/Diversity/Equity/Accessibility)
- Schedule and assist with facilitation of team meetings
- Assist with team’s follow up projects – research, implementation of training programs
Employee Relations
- Manage 30/60/90 day check-in meetings with new team members and team members in new positions
- Conduct staff wellness meetings to determine the overall well-being of staff and identify engagement and performance concerns
- Provide consultation to employee related matters (including performance management, training, and development)
- Develop and implement programs to improve the work-life quality of ACVB employees
General
- Administration of company policies
- Maintain assigned HR records
- Conduct annual job description audits
- Maintain ACVB Employee Handbook
- Support performance review process
- Conduct exit interviews
- Stay current with state and federal employment laws and HR professional knowledge by participating virtually in seminars, conferences, and webinars
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent technology based skillset to include knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive)
- Detail oriented and proactive
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required (business, human resources, or related discipline preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a human resources role (internships included)
- SHRM-CP or PHR (HRCI) certification preferred or currently on track to obtain certification
Additional Information
Work hours
- Monday – Friday (moderate early mornings, late evenings, and weekend work)
Work environment
- Standard, temperature-controlled office environment with moderate office noise level
Work location
- This is a full on-site position located in the Atlanta office; all employees onsite must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
Physical requirements
- Light lifting of 5 – 10 lbs.
