Explore Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail

The city’s historic westside neighborhoods are connected through the Westside Trail including West End and Mozley Park. Here, you will find a food and beverage district, with plenty of options to grab a local beer while overlooking the BeltLine.

1. Washington Park

Start your day off on the right foot by taking an easy stroll or stopping for a morning stretch in Washington Park. The massive greenspace features a tennis court, natatorium, playground, picnic shelters and even a baseball field. This historic park is the namesake of Atlanta’s first African American neighborhood and sits just two blocks from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s high school. From Washington Park, continue your exploration south through the neighborhoods Just Us and Mozley Park where the trail features Victorian cottages and craftsman bungalows.

2. Slutty Vegan

After working up an appetite, continue two miles south to reach one of Atlanta’s best Black-owned vegan restaurants, Slutty Vegan. Just four blocks west of the BeltLine’s Lucile Avenue entrance in the Westview neighborhood find Slutty Vegan, a delicious detour you’ll definitely want to take. Famous for its Slutty Sauce and 100% plant-based Impossible Burgers, Slutty Vegan’s usual long line is certainly worth the wait.

3. West End

West End is always a good time.

Crunched for time but still craving local green eats? Bordering the BeltLine’s Eastern entrance at Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard is one of Atlanta’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods, West End. West End features vegan eateries options including Tassili’s Raw Reality Cafe, Healthful Essence and Soul Vegetarian Restaurant. Whether you go for a classic Kale Salad and Veggie Burger or try something new like the Mausiki Moss sweetened with dates, you surely can’t go wrong.

4. Gordon-White Park

In the heart of Westside at the intersection of the West End Trail and the Westside Trail in the West End community sits one of the BeltLine’s best gathering spots, Gordon White Park. This triangle-shaped green space with winding pathways and beautiful garden beds is perfect for those seeking to explore, relax or just take in the sunshine. Gordon White Park is also a popular hot spot for community events and Art On The Atlanta Beltline performances.

5. 44th & 3rd Bookseller

44th & 3rd Bookseller first opened in 2017 in Little Five Points before moving to Atlanta University Center. This Black, family-owned book and culture brand is a gem for discovering Black expression by authors of the Black diaspora. Now located in the Entra West End property alongside Morehouse School of Medicine, 44th & 3rd Bookseller holds curated events, author readings, and creating strong relationships with members of the local West End community. The namesake references the 44th president of the United States and the venue’s three focuses — Black life, literature and legacy.

6. Hammonds House Museum

Hammonds House Museum

While in West End, stroll down Peoples Street before making your way to Hammonds House Museum. This African American art museum features more than 350 works of art from across the globe. With rotating exhibits, Hammonds House celebrates culture and community in a unique and intriguing way.

7. The Wren’s Nest

This 1870 Queen Anne-style building is a National Historic Landmark and cultural center that celebrates the timeless legacy of the Br’er Rabbit tales. Once home to Joel Chandler Harris, author of the Uncle Remus Tales, The Wren’s Nest is the perfect place for learning more about the history of Atlanta and what makes this city unlike any other.

8. Garden Parc Brunch

Exploring Atlanta on the weekend? Book reservations at Garden Parc, just a few blocks down Cascade Avenue SW, to experience an unforgettable “adult fun day” where guests must be 21 or older. 9. Lee + White

As you continue exploring south along the Beltline, be sure to take in all of the beautiful murals and street art that decorate the Westside Trail before heading toward the Lee + White warehouse complex for drinks. This massive open-container district houses one of Atlanta’s best beer scenes. Home to Monday Night Brewing Garage, Wild Heaven Beer and Best End Brewing Company, the converted warehouse space offers a diverse array of world-class beers and unique outdoor seating.

10. Wild Heaven Beer

Stop into Wild Heaven Beer to enjoy one of its Emergency Drinking Beers, including citrus, tropical, watermelon and peach, all sure to solve your beer crisis. While sipping on your beer, don’t forget to check out the menu. Try the black bean patty melt or panko fried eggplant. Looking for non-alcoholic beverages? 11. Boxcar at Hop City West End

After enjoying a Slap Fight IPA from Monday Night or one of Wild Heaven’s ATL Easy Ales, grab dinner next door at Boxcar. One of the many restaurants in the warehouse complex, Boxcar serves classic American fare with a Southern-inspired twist. Start with one of the appetizers like fried brussels sprouts before enjoying a Georgia green salad or vegan meatloaf.

12. Aluma Farm

If you find yourself exploring the Westside trail between April and November, stop by the BetlLine’s first agricultural site. Aluma Farm is located at Adair Park with a farm stand on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a mini stand on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
