Into That Resonant Dark - MFA Thesis Exhibition - Adam Gabriel Winnie

My thesis work seeks to develop a greater understanding of the psyche and the depths of consciousness. The drawings originate from a desire for rigorous self-examination in the face of a growing ‘disquiet’, the restlessness and uncertainty everywhere present, tentative and in transition. The investigations explore the influence that literal and metaphorical darkness play in the process of individuation. The large scale works draw inspiration from descent narratives in mythology and literature while looking towards alchemy and archetypal psychology for their dialectics and symbolism that engages with the mind.
