Winner of the 2019 Chamber Music America Visionary Award for outstanding and innovative approaches to contemporary classical, jazz, and world chamber music, PUBLIQuartet celebrates American rhythmic traditions with Rhythm Nation. The concert is anchored by PUBLIQuartet's 2021 work, MIND | THE | GAP: Wild Women Don't Get the Blues, which features improvisations on Tina Turner’s Black Coffee, Betty Davis's They Say I'm Different, Alice Coltrane's ErRa, and Ida Cox's Wild Women Don't Have the Blues. The concert also includes Vijay Iyer’s 2012 string quartet Dig the Say — a four-movement homage to the music of James Brown.
