In Atlanta, we celebrate Pride in October. But love is love, and we’re ready to start celebrating with this subversive cross stitch workshop led by Christy Petterson, co-founder of Indie Craft Experience! Cross-stitch is a type of embroidery in which the needlework creates images that look pixelated. In recent years, cross-stitch has become a vehicle for craftivism, (craft + activism) and used to assert diverse identities and demand social change. In this hands-on workshop, we will learn how cross-stitch became subversive, and we’ll also learn the basics of this medium by creating our own cross stitch designs and turning them into reality. We’ll provide the hoops, needles, embroidery floss, and patterns for you to use — just bring your passion! This workshop is a great way to get acquainted with craftivism, learn to cross stitch, create something brilliant, and make new friends! Whether you’re a beginner or experienced stitcher, we’d love for you to join us!
