In this workshop, attendees will learn how to unpack what to write about in their poetry. At its best, poem-writing takes on a life of its own. Instead of going obediently from beginning to end according to plan, a draft takes unexpected turns and reveals what the writer hadn't realized needed to be said; that sense of discovery makes the page brim with energy and necessity. But it can be difficult to let go of intentions and let the writing take off. In this workshop, we'll discuss a few example poems and do writing exercises that aim to generate the unexpected for the author. (Note: This workshop is live and a recording will not be provided.)
