Best Things To Do in Atlanta for Fall Break

You deserve a break. Make that long weekend an even longer one in Atlanta! Here’s our list of the best things to do over the next few weeks here in ATL.

ATL1000 – The 1,000TH Mural in Atlanta!

We knew these ATL streets had plenty of incredible street art, but 1,000 murals?! WOW. Celebrate the artistry of our city throughout September and October with self-guided walking tours and mural painting workshops. Make sure your phone is fully charged so you can take pics of everything!

Apple Picking

When the leaves change color, you know it’s time for apple-flavored EVERYTHING (Pumpkin fans, let us have this). Picking your own apples is a ~core~ fall activity (see what we did there?), and there are plenty of places just outside of the city. Head to B.J. Reece Orchards in Ellijay or Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge to find autumnal nirvana featuring U-Pick apple orchards and bakeries full of delicious fall pastries.

Elevate Atlanta – October 4 – 10

The creativity, art and activism that Atlanta is known for is truly an empowering thing to witness. Celebrate all of that and more with Elevate, a public art and cultural expo! Visual art and performances in the key of this year’s theme of “Equity, Activism and Engagement” will go up in the historic West End neighborhood of Atlanta. The best part? It’s free! So get out and get inspired.

Atlanta Pride 50th Anniversary – October 9 – 11

Celebrate fifty years of love at this year’s Pride festival! Although the festivities will move online this year, the magic will still be available to everyone. Tune in to catch entertainment streams, wellness exercises and even a virtual marketplace to shop around in. Everybody say love! 🌈

Fall Foliage

Having the reputation of being “the City in a Forest” has all sorts of perks. Like blasts of autumnal colors when all of the leaves begin to turn! Whether you’re strolling through the historic neighborhoods or catching an up-high view from the Atlanta Botanical Garden, you can catch sight of gorgeous yellows, oranges and reds throughout Atlanta that make for the perfect photo backdrop.

Amazing Animals: Built to Survive – Fernbank Museum

Ever wonder how a spider spins its web? How big cats hunt their prey? Come face to face with the wonders of biology and wildlife survival at Fernbank! This uber-interactive experience begins October 3 and will include tons of cool critters that show off just how cool nature can be. It’s basically the super cool science class everyone wishes they had.

Sips Under the Sea – Georgia Aquarium

Grab your masks but leave the snorkels at home, the Georgia Aquarium’s aquatic cocktail hour will be returning October 30! Join all of the Aquarium’s underwater residents for a night of socially-distant, Halloween-themed spectacle with signature cocktails on deck.
