The Fabric Of Our Lives is a compelling exploration of Black American women’s experiences in relationship to domestic work and is the basis of this two-part exhibition.

The Ties That Bind is a collection of 15 aprons, exploring the storytelling potential of fabric and attire based on the African modesty apron. The aprons take many shapes and are made from a variety of materials including fabric, metal, animal skins, plant fiber or leaves.

Ex-Domestication, thru an historical perspective, sheds light on the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and the enduring impact it's had on societal behaviors. Lovell challenges traditional notions of "domestication" associated with servitude and control.
