Open - Changes to operations

Zoo Atlanta will open at 10 a.m. on May 16; beginning Sunday, May 17, Zoo hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more on the phased reopening, safety protocols and guest guidelines, visit the Zoo’s Know Before You Visit page. Timed tickets may be purchased here and are first-come, first-served, as daily capacity will be limited. Zoo Atlanta has a mission to save wildlife and their habitats through conservation, research, education and engaging experiences. The Zoo is home to more than 1,000 animals representing more than 200 species from around the world. Zoo Atlanta is one of only three zoos in the U.S. housing giant pandas and is home to one of North America’s largest zoological populations of great apes. Now open: the all-new African Savanna, with new and expanded habitats for African elephants, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, meerkats and more. The Zoo is open daily with the exceptions of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Safety Measures

We’ve implemented procedures to promote the wellness of guests, team members and animals. Masks are required for ages 2 and up. This applies to general admission, as well as to all in-Zoo experiences. Mask requirements also apply to guests who have been vaccinated for COVID-19. Guests must select a timed reservation and purchase tickets online in advance before visiting.

There is a timed ticketing system to limit the number of guests at any given time. Weekday hours are 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Last entry is 4 p.m. Weekend hours are 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Last entry is 4:30 p.m.
