ATL Beats

From hip-hop and rock to indie and everything in between, Atlanta’s live music venues keep the beats popping every night of the week. From intimate venues where you can see your favorite artists up close and personal, to outdoor amphitheaters for an evening of music under the stars, to arenas filled with screaming fans, the ATL is a music town with a variety of great venues to hear music across all spectrums.    

Downtown

The Masquerade moved from Ponce de Leon Avenue to Kenny’s Alley in Underground Atlanta, but its signature stages — named Heaven, Hell and Purgatory — are still there and ready to rock.

Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint offers good Southern food and live music. The $5 fee per person during live music covers the entertainment.

The Tabernacle hosts a diverse lineup of artists in this former church named one of Billboard’s 25 Most Popular Music Clubs in the U.S.

Midtown

Center Stage Theater is home to Vinyl, The Loft and the Center Stage Theater—three venues and bars where you can hear your favorite bands.

Blind Willie’s Blues Club is Atlanta’s oldest blues club. Built by musicians for musicians, it has hosted famous acts before they were household names and is the place to go to hear raw, gritty, soulful blues in the heart of the ATL. Go enjoy some blues, booze, and Cajun food.    Where: 828 North Highland Ave. 

The Fox Theatre is an ATL landmark that attracts the best in performance entertainment from Broadway shows, the Atlanta Ballet, Billboard’s top music concert tours and even classic feature films.

Smith’s Olde Bar may be on the small side, but plenty of musical heavyweights have played this popular watering hole.

Terminal West is a former foundry turned mid-sized music/events venue at King Plow Arts Center that hosts both local and touring acts as well as an annual Battle of the Bands. Where: 887 West Marietta St. NW.

Metro Atlanta

Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is Atlanta’s premier performance venue, hosting Broadway shows, ballet, opera, concerts, comedy, educational programs, family performances, corporate meetings, weddings receptions, galas, and other events.  Where: 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway

City Winery is a fully functioning winery that hosts intimate concerts, food & wine classes, private events, and fine dining. Where: 650 North Ave. 

Domaine Atlanta is the ATL’s favorite party experience, ranked one of the top nightclubs in the country. Styled after a historic opera house, with a multi-level main room with domed ceilings, gorgeous chandeliers, and state of the art sound and lighting, it also has a lavish outdoor cabana, an elevated garden and fountain suite, and a back room lounge for intimate gatherings.  Where: 1150B Peachtree St. (Entrance on Crescent Ave.)

Coca-Cola Roxy is the newest 25,000-square-foot capacity venue in The Battery Atlanta.  Where: 800 Battery Ave. SE

Eastside

Eddie’s Attic is well known in Decatur — and nationwide — for launching singer-songwriters to stardom. Hear original, live music from independent artists. Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, India.Arie, Sara Bareilles, Justin Bieber, and more have played this intimate venue.

The Earl keeps East Atlanta Village entertained with everything from local acts to touring national bands. It’s standing-room only, but a guaranteed fun time any night of the week.

Variety Playhouse is a converted movie theater that now serves as an intimate concert hall featuring a variety of popular acts in Little Five Points.

Star Community Bar is a cozy, no-frills venue that attracts a steady stream of local and up-and-coming alternative and indie-rock acts. Don’t miss the fabulous Elvis shrine in the vault opposite the main stage.

Westside

Northside Tavern is an authentic dive bar that dates back to 1972. Live music seven nights a week, it’s definitely one of the best spots in the city to hear some blues.

Amphitheaters

For the perfect outdoor concert, check out one of Atlanta’s amphitheaters: Wolf Creek, Cadence Bank at Chastain Park, Ameris Bank Amphitheatre, and Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood. Bring a blanket and a picnic and sit back and enjoy an evening of music under the stars.
