GayTravel.com recognized Atlanta as the winner of its city destination category as part of the 2020 Gay Travel Awards. Voters selected Atlanta among a group of other cities across the globe including Amsterdam, London, New York and Paris.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition from GayTravel as Atlanta is the LGBTQ capital of the South with a thriving community for travelers to discover,” said William Pate, president and CEO, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This designation is particularly exciting as Atlanta prepares to host the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association’s Global Convention in September.”

This marks the first time Atlanta welcomes the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association’s educational and networking event. The selection increases Atlanta’s visibility as a welcoming location for LGBTQ travelers along with eight consecutive perfect scores on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index.

“The goals of the GayTravel Awards are twofold,” said Steve Rohrlick, chief visionary officer, GayTravel. “First, we recognize achievement among inclusive travel-related companies and destinations; and second, we inspire other companies and brands around the world to embrace a broad spirit of diversity and inclusiveness as well as continuous improvement in hospitality excellence. Atlanta epitomizes these values and on behalf of GayTravel.com, we congratulate them.”
