Men’s & Women’s Basketball

Atlanta is a hoops town, with not one, but two professional teams and a fanbase that just can’t get enough. Check out the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Dream, and join in the fun.

True to Atlanta: The Atlanta Hawks

NBA SINCE 1968

As one of the original National Basketball Association franchises in 1949, the Blackhawks moved throughout the country for many years. Eventually, its name was shortened to “Hawks’ and it picked up its only NBA championship in 1958 before landing in Atlanta in 1968.  Since arriving at the ATL, they’ve been thrilling fans and earned 46 playoff appearances.

You can catch all the action at State Farm Arena in Downtown Atlanta, the center of entertainment in the city. From preseason to postseason, the Hawks games are fun for the whole family, with Hawks Entertainment dancers, the ATL BOOM drumline, the always entertaining team mascot Harry The Hawk and on-court activations. Plus, you’ll find Killer Mike’s S.W.A.G. Shop, a full-service four-person barbershop located on the terrace level overlooking the court and Zac Brown’s Social Club on the main concourse. You can also rent one of our two Topgolf Swing Suites.

One City One Dream: Atlanta Dream

WNBA EST 2007

Atlanta was into women’s basketball before it was cool. Eight of the 12 1996 Olympians played in the city’s American Basketball League back then. In 2007, Atlanta was awarded a Women’s National Basketball Association expansion, and the Atlanta Dream took the court. This tough team didn’t disappoint — qualifying for the WNBA Playoffs in nine of its 12 years in Atlanta and reaching the WNBA Finals three times.

You can watch the Dream team at the Gateway Center Arena at College Park, South Metro Atlanta’s premier sports and entertainment venue. The small, mighty crowds are passionate, and the affordable concessions and special offers for families, including Atlanta Dream Kids Days with giveaways, make this experience a family favorite.
