A renowned ensemble, The Jazz Band at GSU is composed of talented and passionate musicians showcasing a diverse range of jazz styles including swing, bebop and fusion, garnering a reputation for its electrifying and soulful performances. Directed by Dr. Gordon Vernick with other experienced and skilled faculty members, the jazz band is a testament to Georgia State’s commitment to excellence in the arts. Special guest trumpeter Sean Jones is a professor at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute and a highly respected, in-demand musician who recorded and/or performed with major figures including Herbie Hancock, Joe Lovano, Chico O’Farrill, Illinois Jacquet, Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster, Nancy Wilson, and more.
