Celebrate Earth Week exploring Atlanta’s Chastain Park. It is a North Atlanta gem with over 260 acres holding jogging paths, playgrounds, tennis courts, a golf course, a public swimming pool, horse park, amphitheater, and more. But less than 100 years ago, sheltered by ancient trees and giant boulders, this site hosted an array of curiosities including a natural wonder simply known as The Witches Cave. The history of Chastain park is long and winding, from hosting public almshouses, a grim prison farm, and being a catalyst of desegregation in city to now being a community cornerstone of North Atlanta. This urban oasis a plethora of pollinator gardens and diverse array of tree species!
