Atlanta’s cultural calendar is about to leap into motion. The 2026–2027 season of the Atlanta Ballet promises a dynamic blend of beloved classics, world premieres and theatrical storytelling that spans centuries of dance. From a newly imagined “Swan Lake” to the glamour of “The Great Gatsby” and the magic of the holiday favorite “The Nutcracker,” this lineup showcases the artistry and ambition that continue to define Atlanta’s performing arts scene.
All performances will take place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, where audiences can experience ballet at its most captivating — live, immersive and full of emotion.
“This year’s repertoire bridges eras, illuminating ballet’s enduring legacy while embracing its vibrant evolution,” said Gennadi Nedvigin, artistic director. The season arrives as the company builds momentum toward its milestone 100th anniversary, continuing to elevate Atlanta’s reputation as a destination for world-class arts and culture.
‘Significant Others’ (World Premiere by Melissa Hough)| Stars and Stripes
When: Sept. 18–20, 2026

The season opens with a vibrant mixed-repertory program that blends romance, contemporary movement and celebratory flair. “Significant Others,” choreographed by Remi Wörtmeyer, returns to the stage with a story inspired by love and human connection.
The program also features a world premiere by acclaimed choreographer and dancer Melissa Hough, set to a sweeping score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Rounding out the program is “Stars and Stripes” by legendary choreographer George Balanchine — a joyful, high-energy tribute timed to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebration.
The Nutcracker
When: Dec. 5–26, 2026

Few experiences capture the magic of the holidays in Atlanta quite like “The Nutcracker.” This beloved production returns to enchant audiences of all ages with dazzling costumes, magnificent sets and a live performance of the iconic score.
Reimagined by choreographer Yuri Possokhov, Atlanta Ballet’s version is known for its technical sophistication and immersive staging. The company also will present special Kids In Step performances, introducing thousands of students across metro Atlanta to the joy of ballet each year.
The Great Gatsby
When: Feb. 13–21, 2027

Step into the glamour and intrigue of the Roaring ’20s with “The Great Gatsby,” choreographed by Septime Webre and inspired by the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
This dramatic story ballet transports audiences to Jazz Age New York, where opulence and ambition collide with heartbreak and longing. With stylish choreography, lively music and striking Art Deco design, the production captures the energy and drama of one of literature’s most iconic love stories.
Swan Lake (World Premiere)
When: April 2–4, 2027

One of the season’s most anticipated highlights arrives with the world premiere of a newly reimagined “Swan Lake,” choreographed by Remi Wörtmeyer as a co-production with BalletMet.
This fresh interpretation of the legendary ballet explores love, transformation and tragedy with emotional depth and contemporary vision. Accompanied live by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra performing the beloved score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the production promises a powerful and visually stunning theatrical experience.
Dr. Rainbow’s Infinity Mirror | Fauna (World Premiere by Shannon Alvis)| Under the Folding Sky
When: May 14–16, 2027

The season concludes with a bold mixed-repertory program celebrating creativity and innovation in dance. Highlights include the return of “Dr. Rainbow’s Infinity Mirror” by Atlanta Ballet dancer Darian Kane and the critically acclaimed “Fauna” by choreographer-in-residence Claudia Schreier.
The program also introduces a world premiere by choreographer Shannon Alvis and features “Under the Folding Sky” by celebrated choreographer Justin Peck, set to music by composer Philip Glass.
