Join the National Center for Civil and Human Rights for an evening of film and conversation at Reel Truth: American Coup: Wilmington 1898.
This gripping documentary uncovers the long-suppressed story of the 1898 white supremacist coup and race massacre in Wilmington, North Carolina—violence that overturned Black political and economic progress during Reconstruction.
After film excerpts, producer Brad Lichtenstein joins Emory professors Dr. Carol Anderson and Dr. Crystal Sanders to connect the film’s themes to the Center’s newest exhibition, Broken Promises: The Legacy of Reconstruction.
Tickets: Members $6 | Not Yet Members $12. Includes after-hours access to newly opened galleries.
