The Atlanta Opera launches a Discoveries Series immersive experience at Pullman Yards to present both Rent and La bohéme in an exciting new dual production. Developed by Ukranian-Israeli American designer, director, and multimedia artist Vita Tzykun with Tomer Zvulun, the “Boheme Project” plunges the audience into the world of young creatives facing life and death.
Rent traces an unforgettable year in the lives of seven impoverished young artists and loosely echoes the story and timeless emotions of Giacomo Puccini’s famous Italian opera, La bohéme. Facing a pandemic of HIV/AIDS, rather than tuberculosis as in the opera, the artists struggle to follow their dreams and find joy.
