Honor the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent and Social Change, or The King Center, was established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King and is the official memorial dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Reasons to Visit The King Center
- Pay homage to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by visiting Dr. & Mrs. King’s Tomb in the King Center’s outdoor campus.
- View the Reflecting Pool and Eternal Flame, a symbol of the continuing efforts to realize Dr. King’s dream of justice, peace and equality for all.
- Learn more about Dr. King and his work through timeless exhibits on display at Freedom Hall, the exhibition location on campus. The Grand Foyer features art from Africa and Georgia. Freedom Hall’s second floor is utilized as exhibit space to honor Dr. and Mrs. King, Mahatma Gandhi and Rosa Parks.
- Visit the King Center’s library and archives. Access the diverse communications media used to teach the world about Dr. King’s life, work, philosophy and methods of nonviolent conflict resolution and social change.
- Explore even more of the life and legacy of Dr. King with numerous tours, exhibits and monuments featured throughout the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park .
Insider Tips
- Tours of The King Center are self-guided. Pre-registration is required only for visits to the Birth Home of Dr. King, which is operated separately at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park.
- Access video programs that are available at the King Center’s information desk.
- Take the Atlanta Streetcar from downtown Atlanta for a short, direct route to the King Center. Parking is available at the visitor parking lot.

Open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All facilities are closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
