Atlanta Dream

The Atlanta Dream is the city’s professional women’s basketball team. Games are played at Gateway Center Arena in College Park. The 2026 season opens May 12 against the Dallas Wings at the Wings’ arena in Arlington, Texas. The Home Opener is May 22 vs. Dallas. Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray made the 2025 All-WNBA First Team, capping a record-setting season that solidified her place among the league’s top two-way guards. Gray became the first Dream player since 2018 and just the fourth in franchise history to earn a First Team selection. Established in Atlanta in 2008, the Atlanta Dream is the Southeast’s only WNBA franchise. Since 2009, the Dream has produced 12 WNBA All-Stars, earned 11 playoff bids and made three WNBA finals appearances.
Atlanta Fire United
The Atlanta Fire United is the professional women’s soccer team that was originally called the West Gwinnett Soccer Club. The team plays in the nine-team Southeast Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League and games take place at various fields across the metro area. As of 2025, the team is part of the league’s South Region, specifically playing within the Peachtree Division of the Southeast Conference against teams like Chattanooga FC, Decatur FC and Georgia Impact.
Atlanta Truth
Atlanta Truth made its debut in 2025 as the city’s professional women’s football team and as one of the 17 teams of the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC). The team plays at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The season starts March 28 against the Washington Prodigy. Now in its seventh season, the WNFC is the most competitive and proactive women’s football league in the world, with players from more than 20 countries.
Atlanta Vibe

The Atlanta Vibe is a women’s indoor volleyball team, competing as one of eight teams in Major League Volleyball. Embarking on its third season, the Vibe plays at Gas South Arena and the Georgia State University Convocation Center. The Atlanta Vibe competes in the Pro Volleyball Federation. Players come from volleyball powerhouses such as Minnesota, Purdue, Kentucky and Louisville. Head coach is Kayla Banwarth, who spent six years on the U.S. National Team and played professionally overseas in Azerbaijan. The Vibe’s last game of the 2026 season is May 3, so there is plenty of time to head to Gas South Arena and watch the action.
The Vibe was the third team to join the Pro Volleyball Federation, which started in 2024. The Vibe also is the first team with a female owner, Colleen Durham Craig. Craig is founder and managing partner in Rally Sports Management and she was a dual sport Division 1 athlete at Cornell University, where she was a volleyball middle hitter and track athlete.
LOVB Atlanta
LOVB Atlanta is a professional women’s indoor volleyball team and is part of the LOVB Pro league (League One Volleyball). The professional team is part of a broader system that includes 54 junior clubs. There are six teams in the league. Atlanta ended the 2025 season with a 13-3 record. LOVB Atlanta matches are played at Gateway Center Arena in nearby College Park, McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus and Overtime Elite Arena at Atlantic Station..
Atlanta Harlequins

The Atlanta Harlequins (formerly the Southeast Harlequins) has been playing for more than 40 years. Currently, the Harlequins play in the D1 Capital Union, meaning they travel up the East Coast to compete. In 2026, home games will be played at LUPO Field at Life University. The 2026 season runs from Feb. 14 through the May 1-3 Atlantic Super Regionals. The team’s goals are an inspiration for everyone: Growth mindset, respect, inclusivity and team first (GRIT).
Atlanta Roller Derby
Atlanta Roller Derby is a founding member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), which started in 2004. Since then, the sport has delighted fans as a full-contact sport for women. The four home teams — the Apocalypstix, Black Water Reapers, Glamma Rays and Toxic Shock — take to the track from March to September at Agnes Scott College in Decatur. In addition, the league sponsors three travel teams. The Dirty South Derby is the WFTDA-chartered All-Stars who compete at the highest level. The Rumble Bs is a regionally competitive team of rising stars, while the Rolling Ruckus is a locally competitive team.
College Sports
Not only does Atlanta boast several professional women’s teams, but area colleges also offer exciting women’s sports as well.
Clark Atlanta University women’s sports include volleyball, basketball, softball, tennis and cross country/track & field. The Panthers play in the NCAA Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
Georgia State University has more women’s teams than men’s. In addition to sports such as basketball and soccer that the men also have, the women’s teams include field volleyball, softball, beach volleyball, cross country, and track and field teams.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s sports include basketball, cross country, outdoor track and field, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball
