Atlanta’s independent theaters host different types of films from foreign movies to classics and the latest blockbuster. Our theaters are among the many unique things about Atlanta so catch a flick and experience a local favorite.
Plaza Theatre
Plaza Theatre off of Ponce de Leon Avenue is Atlanta’s oldest operating cinema and features a large assortment of films. From old films to new movies, the Plaza has them all, including the “Silver Scream Spook Show,” which features a live stage show and classic horror film.
Fox Theatre
The historic Fox Theatre hosts a the Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival featuring current movies and classic films.
Landmark Midtown Art Cinema
Located in the Midtown Promenade, Landmark Midtown Art Cinema shows art films, current movies and other popular films. Snack on themed cocktails, baked goods and gourmet candies.
Springs Cinema and Taphouse
Springs Cinema and Taphouse in Sandy Springs is sure to give you a unique movie experience. The cinema has large screens and reclinable seats with heaters. It also hosts themed movie parties like Back to the ’80s and Fright Nights. Sometimes an actor from the featured movie comes to visit.
Rialto Center for the Arts
Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University, located Downtown, recently added a new digital film projector and cinema screen for movies, sending the Rialto back to its roots as a movie palace starting in 1916. The center hosted the Atlanta Film Festival in April and will introduce more film events.
Tara Theatre
After closing in November 2022, Tara Theatre reopened in May. The theater now has updated technology, which makes it possible to show newer films, hold special events and more.
