Atlanta has so many facets–beautiful buildings, parks full of greenery, funky neighborhoods. Hollywood certainly knows this. As we all are streaming movies during these stay-at-home days, Atlanta often pops up on our screens. Not all of the movies are set in Atlanta. The film may take place in Los Angeles or even Jumanji, but all of they were filmed in Atlanta. Others, like “School Daze,” are set in Atlanta and proudly showcase the city.
There are too many to list them all, but here are some noteworthy movies that were filmed in Atlanta.
Action Movies filmed in Atlanta
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back at it again in “Bad Boys for Life,”and the dynamic duo even shut down parts of Peachtree Road in Buckhead for the movie.

“The Nice Guys” features Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as detectives teaming up to investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl (Margaret Qualley). Among the locations used were music producer Dallas Austin’s Atlanta home and the Atlanta Hilton Hotel.

The reboot of “Shaft”was shot in Atlanta and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Regina Hall and Richard Roundtree (the original Shaft).

“Stuber” is an action movie starring Kumail Nanjiani as an Uber driver who is forced by a policeman to drive him around to catch a drug lord. The movie takes place in Los Angeles, but it was filmed in Atlanta.

“Jumanji: The Next Level” features the gang (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart), but when they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover a new adventure. Among the locales are Ansley Park, Georgia State University and Midtown. The scenes with camels, by the way, were shot in a rock quarry in nearby Lithonia.

And of course we would be remiss not to mention the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War all feature Atlanta prominently in their filming. Comedy Movies filmed in Atlanta
“A Madea Family Funeral” is the 11th and final installment of the Madea film series that was written, directed and produced by Atlanta-based Tyler Perry. The basic plot is that Madea and her family gather for an unexpected funeral during a family get-together in Georgia and hilarity ensures.

“School Daze” is a musical comedy-drama starring Laurence Fishburne. It is about life in a fraternity and a sorority at a historically black college. The story is set in Atlanta and several historically black institutions including Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University and Morris Brown College were used. The movie is based on writer/director Spike Lee’s experiences at Morehouse College.

“Zombieland” is a post-apocalyptic zombie comedy starting Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson. Filming locations include a house on West Paces Ferry Road, One Park Place and Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“Like A Boss” stars Tiffany Haddish and Salma Hayek as two friends who start a beauty company together, but have different goals for the company. The movie was shot all around Atlanta with its base camp on Northside Drive.
