At 5Church, head up, up, up to Virtue Rooftop.

There are arcade games. There's food. There's beer. There's a view, The Roof at Ponce City Market.

The paella's yummy at Gypsy Kitchen.

6 Must-Visit Atlanta Rooftop Bars

Atlanta is a city of trees, beautiful people, great restaurants, hip bars and skylines – more than one. Here’s a guide to our favorite rooftop bars to assist you in becoming one of the beautiful people enjoying the views from a rooftop bar while sipping a craft cocktail and eating tapas.

O-Ku

Located on Howell Mill Road, O-Ku presents authentic Asian cuisine with a Southern approach. Chef Masatomo Hamaya brings in the freshest fish from around the world as well as local sustainable sources. With a rooftop patio featuring a picturesque view of the Atlanta skyline, O-Ku serves up a dynamic menu of small plates (shishito peppers), hot dishes (miso salmon), rolls (tuna crunch) and nigiri (misoyaki). Drink it down with The Shogun (229 gin, basil, agave and lemon).

The Roof at Ponce City Market

It's all fun and carnival games on The Roof at Ponce City Market.

The Roof at Ponce City Market offers the most fun a roof can offer with vintage amusement park games at Skyline Park and libation offerings ranging from local beers to craft cocktails. Head over to Nine Mile Station and try one of the three variations of the 9 Mile Old-Fashioned. If you’re having dinner, consider the Cobb Salad, Gruyere burger and/or steak frites.

5Church

There are a lot of reasons to go to 5Church at Colony Square. Whether it’s brunch, lunch or dinner, the Southern-inspired food and extensive wine and beer list put a smile on every diner’s face. Some of our favorites on the dinner menu are the Maine sea scallops, lamb burger and Wagyu beef fried rice. Up above at Virtue Rooftop, the menu is different and comes with rotating roster of live musicians and DJs, all starting at 5 p.m. A second location of 5Church is scheduled to open this fall.

Gypsy Kitchen

At Gypsy Kitchen, you can enjoy the culinary riches of Spain that are infused with Moroccan and Indian influences while overlooking Buckhead. Try the seafood paella, adana lamb kofte and embutidos. Gypsy Kitchen’s happy hour is among the best in the city with rotating wine vintages and tapas.

The Rooftop at Hotel Clermont

Climb up here for street food, frose in the summer and hot toddies in the fall. Hotel Clermont was built in 1924. The wrecking ball came close a few years back. Fortunately, it never struck and a nostalgic piece of Atlanta is open for dining, sleeping or fun on the rooftop.

Whiskey Blue Atlanta

Whiskey Blue Atlanta, located in Buckhead’s Hotel Colee, is pure glamour and glitz. Two outdoor patios grant views of Buckhead and Lenox Square from one side and of Midtown on the other. Whiskey Blue has a vibe unlike any other with its private glass elevator that brings you to the roof and puts you into a contemporary version of a vintage Palm Springs retreat. The lounge is perfect for star-gazing (Hollywood ones as well as those in the sky) and dancing to the DJ’s music. The menu features Gerber Group’s classic and house cocktails, locally brewed craft beers and lite bites.

Six Feet Under

You get a rooftop view at both locations of Six Feet Under — Grant Park and Westside. And when you get up on the roofs, you’ll know why Travel + Leisure magazine named this Atlanta mainstay one of its Top 30 American Outdoor Bars. Six Feet Under is a pub and fish house, so — hint, hint — order something from the sea or fresh water. Maybe start with conch fritters and move on to fried catfish. You’ll be hooked, lined and sinker-ed.

New Realm Brewing

Hop on the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside trail and stop at New Realm Brewery. Elbow your way through the crowd (politely, please) to get up to the roof, which is when you’ll understand why there are so many people up there. It’s fab. Order an IPA or a hand-crafted cocktail to wash down your wood-fired pizza. Ah, now that’s living.

Bellyard Hotel

When you arrive at the Bellyard Hotel on the Westside, go up to the Drawbar. From there, you can walk out to the rooftop area. During football season, there is a special tailgate menu that offers bites such as peach cider pulled pork sliders and soft pretzels with beer cheese. For a bigger appetite, try a Bellyard burger or jerk-grilled mahi. That rings a nice bell.
