At a Glance: Touring has taken her across most of the South, but indie artist Okay Kenedi still believes Atlanta is the best city in the region: a beacon of hope for inclusion and progress, with a music community that’s welcomed her with open arms. Kenedi started creating music and performing with friends in 2019, blissfully unaware that the world was about to shut down due to the COVID pandemic.

At a Glance: Bad Guru channels the power of rock and roll and soul-searching lyricism to express the constant pull between light and dark, femininity and masculinity, order and chaos, creating a cathartic experience for the ATLiens lucky to see them live. For lead singer Sierra Crowe, meeting her future bandmates in a guitar class at Georgia College and State University felt fated, being at the right place at exactly the right time. She began jamming with drummer Quinn Brophy and guitarist Joey Hurley, where the trio formed a cover band called Midnight Royalty.

At a Glance: In a city full of indie gems waiting to be discovered, and a plethora of venues putting on shows every night, Choachi, a relatively newer band to the scene that packs a whole lot of energy into their music, is one you won’t want to miss. Diego Hermoza and Matt Boone, both singers and guitarists, met at a local venue where Boone was playing with his former band, New Tree.

At a Glance: While the band’s lineup has changed through the years, what unites the members of Dinner Time has stayed the same: a group of friends with a passion for making music and rocking out in their garage. Andrew Joyce sings, plays guitar, and dabbles on the piano.

At a Glance: Once a high school cover band and then a house show staple in their college town, the members of Driptones have spent years fine-tuning their indie rock sound and dynamic sets, bringing a ton of energy to Atlanta’s music scene. Members Collin Fitzgerald, Xander Boggs, and Zach Gerbi have been jamming out together since high school, first meeting through their theater program’s pit orchestra, and then, naturally, calling their cover band The Pit. The trio attended University of Florida in Gainesville, Flor.
