Georgia vs. Florida in Atlanta: Where to Watch, Eat and Tailgate

A historic college football rivalry takes on a new stage. The University of Georgia and University of Florida are bringing one of the most infamous college football matchups to Mercedes-Benz Stadium this Halloween for a good ole-fashioned SEC matchup.

Rightfully deemed “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party”, Florida-Georgia has been played annually since 1933, but is now being called the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic for its inaugural game in Atlanta.

Georgia fans brought the school spirit to cheer on their team.

Fans are wondering if 2026 will be the year for UF to upset UGA’s five-year win streak, or if the Bulldogs can keep it alive on Georgian turf. Atlanta is stepping in as this year’s host city for the matchup amid renovations at Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium.

This is not your traditional SEC road game, as neither team will have the home-field advantage when the Bulldogs and Gators meet in Atlanta. Set for October 31 at 3:30 p.m., Mercedes-Benz Stadium will serve as this year’s neutral site for the game.

Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame Luncheon

Before the big game day, the College Football Hall of Fame is hosting the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 30 at noon. There will be four inductees to the 2026 Hall of Fame Class. For the University of Georgia, it’s Andre Hastings and Brandon Boykin. For the University of Florida, it’s Emmitt Smith and Maurkice Pouncey.

From Frat Beach to “Fratlanta”

What does this move mean for Bulldog students? For decades, UGA students have chosen St. Simons Island as their halfway point between Athens and Jacksonville for their Florida-Georgia weekend celebrations. A change in location means a temporary halt to the tradition they proudly call “Frat Beach,” where hundreds of students dress up in Halloween attire and take to the beaches to kick off their own celebration surrounding the game.

This raises the question of whether the all-day Halloween celebration will migrate to the city, giving “Fratlanta” a chance to take over. No matter the answer, the combination of a gameday crowd and a rowdy student body will surely electrify the city in holiday and football spirit.
