Mercedes-Benz Stadium isn’t just any stadium- it’s a mix of goals, excitement and the atmosphere of champions. Here are 14 reasons why Mercedes-Benz Stadium is an experience in itself:
A Stadium that Knows Soccer
Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built as a soccer-specific stadium and routinely hosts 20-25 soccer matches per year. It is one of the only FIFA World Cup™ venues in the United States that is soccer-specific.
Discover Why Atlanta is a Soccer City.
It Can Switch Between Soccer and Football in Minutes
Thanks to a modular design, the stadium can change from a soccer field to a football field in a matter of hours by adjusting seating, signage and even the turf. The Mercedes-Benz is also home to the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.
The World’s Largest Halo Screen
The stadium features a 63,000-square-foot, 360-degree HD video screen, the largest of its kind, that surrounds the roof like a halo. It is a spectacle for fans at all events.
It Was One of the Most Expensive Stadiums Ever Built
The stadium’s total cost exceeded $1.6 billion, placing it among the most expensive stadiums on the planet. It was financed in part by Falcons owner Arthur Blank and also with public funds.

Smart Stadium Technology
With more than 1,800 wireless access points and state-of-the-art mobile connectivity, the stadium is one of the most technologically advanced in the country. The stadium’s network can handle over 75,000 connected devices simultaneously – faster than public Wi-Fi in many cities!

Retractable roof inspired by Roman architecture
The stadium’s roof is inspired by the oculus of the Pantheon in Rome. It consists of eight triangular panels that open and close in a circular shape, like a camera, making it unique in the world.
“The Window to the City”
A massive floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooks downtown Atlanta, offering visitors a breathtaking view of the skyline while watching a game or concert.
Collection of Art With Atlanta Roots
The stadium houses more than 180 works of art, including large-scale works by local and national black artists, and even a 23-meter-tall falcon sculpture on the façade, the largest bird sculpture in the world.
A Giant Falcon Made of Recycled Steel
The famous 23-meter falcon sculpture in front of the stadium was constructed from recycled steel and designed by Hungarian artist Gábor Miklós Szőke. The bird holds a soccer ball, paying homage to Atlanta’s passion for the sport.

LEED Platinum Certified
It is the first professional sports stadium in the United States to achieve LEED Platinum (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. It has 4,000 solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system and electric vehicle charging stations.
Recycles Rainwater
The rainwater harvesting system not only prevents flooding, but collects up to 2 million gallons per year, which is then used to irrigate gardens and supply the stadium’s restrooms.

Concessions at Reasonable Fan Prices
Mercedes-Benz Stadium is famous for its reasonably priced food concessions for the fan, offering items such as hot dogs at $2 and beer at $5, well below average stadium prices.
It Has Its Own Local Culinary Program
The stadium collaborates with local chefs and restaurants through the “Best of Atlanta” program, offering authentic Atlanta food inside the stadium, from BBQ to international cuisine. Find out more about the food at the stadium.
Host of Major World Events
Mercedes-Benz Stadium has hosted Super Bowl LIII, the College Football Playoff National Championship, Copa America and is one of the venues for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA World Cup 2026, which places the stadium on a world sporting stage.
