One-Day Itinerary for Foodies in Atlanta

I don’t know about you, but when I travel, I plan my trip around food. Nothing shows me a city more than what it’s serving. Food is community, culture and heritage, which is exactly what we can serve up here in Atlanta.

There is so much to eat in Atlanta, but if you only have one day, here is a one-day itinerary to eat around the city. Start here, and come back for more.

Morning: Start Slow

Start your day at Star Provisions.

This is my ideal Atlanta morning. Grab a coffee and don’t overthink it — just order the French omelet baguette and the granola (yes, both). If it’s the weekend, you have to get the pancakes. Sit, ease into the day and pretend you’re in a little Parisian market before the city fully wakes up.

Alternatively, if you want something trendier, Le Bon Nosh offers a more social, design-forward breakfast moment right in the heart of Buckhead. Get your camera ready for the perfect Instagrammable moments.

Mid-Morning: Culture Break

Head over to Buford Highway Farmers Market.

Located in the heart of Buford Highway, the most diverse corridor in the Southeast, this store will blow your mind. You will find foods from all over the world. Walk the aisles and be adventures grabbing items with labels that you probably can’t even read. Aside from the produce, the store is arranged by country, making it very easy to navigate and explore. The very own Anthony Bourdain has been here filming and eating. The store will spark your curiosity and broaden your foodie knowledge.

If you want to spend a whole day in Buford Highway, here is a one-day itinerary dedicated to this fun part of the city.

Lunch: A Vietnamese Feast

Fun lunch at Nam Phuong.

While in Buford Highway, head over to MICHELIN-recognized Nam Phuong for a Vietnamese feast. The place is laid-back, no reservations needed, and no experience with Vietnamese food is required either. Highly recommend any pho, but don’t miss out on the sharable Banh Hoi where you can create your own rolls or the seafood and beef fondue with vermicelli. I do love the interactive lunch experience.

Alternatively, head to Plaza Fiesta, a massive shopping center that transports you to Latin America. You’ll definitely find a new favorite Latin food at one of their two food courts.

Afternoon Bite: Something Casual (You’re in Atlanta, After All)

Make your way to Ponce City Market.

This is where you reset the vibe. Take a walk around, build an appetite and try something from the different food stalls. Spiller Park serves some of the best coffee in the city right in the middle of it all, then head to Five Daughters Bakery for the perfect sweet, or LaRayia’s Bodega for a smoothie or cold-pressed juice. Shop in between bites and head to THE ROOF for the views and a little friendly competition.

Dinner: The Main Event

Book a table at One-MICHELIN-Star Lazy Betty.

This is your big moment. Settle in for the tasting menu and let the chefs take over. Every course feels intentional and a little surprising, and it’s one of the best ways to experience how far Atlanta’s dining scene has come.

If you want something more sexy and sushi-focused, swap for Umi. There is a reason why many celebrities make a beeline from the airport straight to Umi. This Atlanta institution serves incredible food and sexy, fun vibes.

Late Night: Cocktails and a Little Chaos

A dimly lit bar with neon lights and a variety of colorful cocktails on display in Atlanta, Georgia.

End the night at El Malo.

Start with cocktails and small bites, grab a velvet booth if you can, and stay as the space slowly turns into a party. The music kicks in, the lights shift, and suddenly your “one drink” turns into a full night out.

If you want something quieter and more intimate, Bar Ana serves the perfect nightcap and dessert.
