This summer, the world’s biggest soccer tournament is bringing global energy to metro Atlanta, and one of the best places to experience it might not be inside the stadium at all.

Just east of Downtown Atlanta, the city of Decatur is transforming into a giant neighborhood watch party during FIFA World Cup 2026™. For 34 straight days, Decatur WatchFest ’26 will fill the newly renovated Decatur Square with giant screens, live music, international fans, outdoor dining, family activities and the kind of electric atmosphere that turns an ordinary summer night into something unforgettable.
Whether you’re a die-hard soccer fan, a casual viewer hoping to catch the U.S. Men’s National Team match with a crowd or simply looking for a fun place to spend a summer evening, Decatur WatchFest combines everything people love about Atlanta in one walkable destination: music, food, culture, community and a really good excuse to day drink on a patio. Consider this your ultimate guide to Decatur WatchFest ’26.
What is Decatur WatchFest ’26?

Running from June 11 through July 19, Decatur WatchFest ’26 is a month-long celebration centered on the FIFA World Cup 2026™. More than 60 matches will air on three giant screens in Decatur Square while concerts, activations and fan experiences take over the surrounding downtown district.
The festival is a partnership between the city of Decatur, the Decatur Downtown Development Authority, and the Decatur Tourism Bureau, but the vibe feels much more like a neighborhood block party than a formal civic event. Think packed patios, people waving flags from around the world, music echoing through the square and crowds lingering long after the final whistle.
Best of all, most of the experience is completely free.
Watch Matches Under the Lights

At the heart of Decatur WatchFest are the giant outdoor watch parties.
Matches will air daily throughout the tournament, including major group stage games, knockout rounds and the FIFA World Cup Final on July 19. The square will host every U.S. Men’s National Team group-stage match, which means the energy during USA games will likely feel somewhere between a sports bar, a street festival and a full-on celebration.
Some of the biggest watch party dates include:
- June 11: Mexico vs. South Africa
- June 12: USA vs. Paraguay
- June 19: USA vs. Australia
- June 25: USA vs. Türkiye
- Round of 16 matches
- Quarterfinals
- Semifinals
- July 19: FIFA World Cup Final
Even better, the watch parties spill naturally into the rest of downtown Decatur. Grab tacos before kickoff, order another round after a dramatic finish or wander into one of the many bars and restaurants serving as official WatchSpots throughout the tournament.
The Music Lineup is Legit

What really makes Decatur WatchFest stand out is that it doubles as a massive summer concert series.
There will be live music every day of the tournament with performances ranging from Atlanta legends to local bands, DJs and tribute acts. Some concerts are ticketed, but most are completely free and take place directly on the square.

The three headline concerts include:
- Big Boi on June 11
- The War And Treaty on June 25
- Indigo Girls on July 19
The free concert lineup is where things get especially fun.
Atlanta rock staples Drivin N Cryin take the stage June 22, bringing decades of Southern rock history with them. Formed in Atlanta in the mid-1980s, the band became known for songs like “Fly Me Courageous” and “Straight to Hell,” blending gritty rock ‘N’ roll energy with folk storytelling and hometown roots.

Other free performances include:
- Kasper Rouser and the 911 Band
- C.O.T. Band
- Broasis
- Andrew Holley Band
- Gurufish
- Khaliko
- Macon Music Revue
- DJ Cleo
- Little Hopes
- Purple Madness
- These Crowded Streets
- Pushback
The result feels less like a typical fan festival and more like Decatur’s version of a European-style summer square celebration where soccer, live music and nightlife all blend together.
It’s Family Friendly, Too

One of the best parts about Decatur WatchFest is that it was clearly designed for more than just hard-core soccer fans.
Families can explore the Atlanta United Skills Zone, visit the YMCA mini-pitch, participate in interactive games and let kids burn off energy between matches. The YMCA activation also celebrates a unique piece of local history: the Decatur Family YMCA is recognized as the birthplace of organized youth soccer in the United States.
There are also sensory accessibility accommodations supported by Emory Healthcare, helping make the festival more inclusive for visitors with sensory sensitivities.
The Square Itself is Part of the Experience

The newly renovated square gives the festival a lively, pedestrian-friendly backdrop packed with patios, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. During the World Cup, the area will feel especially alive as locals mix with international visitors and fans bounce between watch parties, concerts and late-night hangs.
Decatur’s open-container district also makes it easy to grab a drink and explore the festivities without staying planted in one spot all night.
This is the kind of event where you might show up planning to watch one match and accidentally stay for six hours.
Easy to Reach Without a Car

One of the biggest advantages of Decatur WatchFest is how easy it is to get there.
The Decatur MARTA Station sits directly beneath the square, making the festival one of the most transit-friendly World Cup experiences in metro Atlanta. Visitors can ride MARTA from Downtown Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz Stadium straight into the center of the action.
If you do drive, organizers say more than 10,000 parking spaces are available throughout Decatur.
Why Decatur WatchFest Belongs on Your Summer Bucket List
You don’t need World Cup tickets to feel part of the tournament this summer.
Decatur WatchFest captures the kind of spontaneous energy that makes global sporting events so memorable. One minute you’re surrounded by fans chanting through a penalty kick. The next you’re listening to live music under string lights with a drink in hand and no real plans to head home anytime soon.
For 34 days, Decatur becomes one giant celebration of soccer, music, community and summer in Atlanta and honestly, that’s a pretty great combination.
