Atlanta is home to a variety of amusement parks, ranging from thrilling theme parks to family entertainment centers. Here are a few options:

Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia is a theme park located in Austell, Ga., which is about 20 miles west of downtown Atlanta. The park first opened in 1967 and has since become one of the most popular amusement parks in the Southeastern United States.

Six Flags Over Georgia is known for its many roller coasters, which include Goliath, The Riddler Mind Bender and Twisted Cyclone. Water rides such as Thunder River offer a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. There are also plenty of rides that are appropriate for younger visitors, such as ACME Trucking Company, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters and Rockin’ Tug.

In addition to rides, Six Flags Over Georgia features a variety of live shows and a large arcade area, where visitors can play a variety of classic and modern games. The park is typically open from late March to early fall, with extended hours during the summer months.

Six Flags White Water

Six Flags White Water is a water park located in Marietta, Ga., that features a variety of water attractions, including water slides, wave pools, lazy rivers and kids’ play areas. Some of the popular attractions at Six Flags White Water include the Tornado, a large water slide, and the Dive Bomber, a free-fall water slide.

There are also plenty of rides and attractions for the younger kids. Dragon’s Tail is a family-friendly water coaster that takes riders through a series of twists, turns and drops. Catch a wave in the massive wave pool that creates waves up to 4-feet tall or check out the kids’ play area, which has a variety of smaller water slides and interactive elements designed for younger children.

The water park operates seasonally, typically from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, although the exact dates may vary from year to year. For families and thrill-seekers looking to beat the heat and enjoy a fun day in the sun, Six Flags White Water is the place to be.

Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain Park is a popular tourist destination located in Stone Mountain, Ga. It covers more than 3,000 acres and is situated around the world’s largest exposed granite monolith.

Stone Mountain Park, located about 15 miles from downtown Atlanta, offers a variety of rides and attractions for visitors of all ages. SkyHike is an adventure ropes course featuring suspended bridges, balance beams and more. Summit Skyride is a cable car ride that takes visitors to the top of Stone Mountain, where they can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area. Tour the park on a train ride or take in a 4-D movie at the theater.

Kids will love playing at Geyser Splash Pad, Scenic Railroad, Dinosaur Explore and Adventure Golf.

Skyline Park at Ponce City Market

Skyline Park is an amusement park located on the rooftop of Ponce City Market, a historic mixed-use development, located in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta.

Skyline Park offers a variety of attractions and activities, including mini-golf, a three-story slide, a Heege Tower, a horse derby race and a midway with classic carnival games. The park has several food and beverage options, including a rooftop bar and restaurant called Nine Mile Station that offer food and drinks.

In addition to entertainment, Skyline Park offers visitors views of Atlanta’s skyline and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

Andretti Indoor Karting & Games

Andretti Indoor Karting & Games is a family entertainment center located in Marietta, Ga., that features high-speed electric go-karting, arcade games, laser tag, a ropes course and virtual reality experiences. The main attraction is the indoor go-kart track, which offers a high-speed racing experience for drivers of all skill levels. The tracks feature a variety of twists, turns and straightaways, providing a challenging race experience.

In addition to go-karting, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games offers a range of other attractions, including arcade games, laser tag, bowling and virtual reality experiences. Andretti offers fun and entertainment for all ages and interests.

LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta

Hop aboard the Kingdom Quest ride at LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead to rescue the captured princess. Watch out for beastly trolls and sneaky skeletons lurking around every corner. Can you zap them all to save the day? 

Go for a ride on The Great LEGO Race Virtual Reality Experience. Steer clear of flying objects, soar high in the air and fly into lava caves.

Go on a swashbuckling quest aboard a LEGO-themed pirate ship. Fight off enemy ships or escape down the slide to make it ashore to the island’s castle. 

KIds younger than 5 may enjoy Duplo Park, which is filled with activities and interactive areas that allow little ones to learn while having fun with their families. Among the things to do are duck fishing, spinning the construction challenge wheel and riding the dinosaur carousel.
