Capturing Atlanta’s Energy and Authenticity

Photography has connected Cassie Wright to the world. As a commercial photographer and visual storyteller, Wright captures Atlanta’s multifaceted identity through powerful, energetic and deeply human images. Her lens reveals the city’s diversity, from its lush, tree-lined streets to its vibrant LGBTQIA+ community, with authenticity and celebration at the core of her work.

A Dynamic Style Rooted in Movement

Wright’s signature style is marked by energy and motion.

“I love shooting motion and then capturing that precise moment where it all just comes together,” she explains. “I kind of shoot rapid-fire crazy when I can. There’s something magical about freezing a burst of energy in a single frame.”

Her use of natural light allows her to maintain spontaneity. In the studio, she meticulously matches lighting to recreate the dynamic feel of her outdoor scenes.

Seeing Atlanta’s Beauty in the Details

Wright deeply appreciates Atlanta’s natural beauty, which she believes is often overlooked.

“I don’t know if everyone realizes how green and lush the city is,” she says. “Even from a high-rise in Midtown, you still see trees everywhere. I think that’s really special. Atlanta has more inner-city nature than most big cities.”

This reverence for the city’s landscape and character shows up in her work, where the backdrop of trees, historic landmarks and skyline silhouettes add depth and atmosphere to her portraits.

Championing the LGBTQIA+ Community through Art

Wright’s recent work reflects a personal and artistic evolution as she embraces her identity and focuses on celebrating Atlanta’s queer community.

“That’s a new part of myself that I’m stepping into,” she shares. “I’m really wanting to connect more with that community, uplift it, promote visibility and be as engaged as I can.”

Her latest project, inspired by “Peter Pan’s” Neverland, embodies the freedom of self-expression. Featuring performers from Atlanta’s LGBTQIA+ scene, the shoot pairs theatrical creativity with raw authenticity. With the Fox Theatre and Centennial Olympic Park as backdrops, Wright merges iconic Atlanta landmarks with bold, individualistic self-expression.

“Atlanta is our Neverland,” she says. “A place where you can be whoever you want to be: colorful, vibrant and unapologetically yourself.”

Photography as Empowerment

Beyond capturing striking visuals, Wright is committed to empowering her subjects. For her Neverland project, she ensures each performer receives a personal collection of images celebrating their individuality.

“This is my dream shoot,” she says with a smile. “I’m great at capturing big energy and personality, and everyone here has exceeded any expectations I had. They’ve brought their own creativity and we’ve collaborated to create something that celebrates their uniqueness.”
