Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a busy place with Atlanta United and Atlanta Falcons making their homes there and with many big concerts and special events taking the stage. Events scheduled for 2022 include concerts by Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, Luke Combs and Elton John. The annual Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games will once again return to the stadium in September. Mercedes-Benz stadium was host to MLS Cup in 2018, Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and, prior to cancellation because of the coronavirus, was scheduled to be home to the 2020 NCAA Final Four. To assist the thousands of music and sports fans frequently converging on Atlanta, we have identified the go-to bars and restaurants within walking distance of the new stadium.

Der Biergarten

It’s an authentic German beer garden right here in the A at Der Biergarten. Enjoy German cuisine, Bavarian decor and even a German-manufactured model railroad. What’s on tap? German draft beers such as Bitburger, Pilsner, the official beer of the German national soccer team. Pair that with the wurstplatte (bratwurst and knackwurst) or wiener schnitzel (lightly bread veal, lemon and parsley served with potato salad).

Home to the only coal-burning oven in Georgia, Max Lager’s Coal Oven Pizzeria serves New York-style pizza as well as salads, pastas, sandwiches. wings and desserts. Pizza choices include but are not limited to margherita, bianca, salumi and greca. The sandwich menu offers three different hoagies. Salad choices are Greek, Caesar and pizzaiolo. Spaghetti and meatballs top the pasta menu.

McCormick & Schmick’s

USA Today gave McCormick & Schmick’s happy hour a top rating. Besides happy cocktails, you can get steak, poultry, entree salads and pasta here.

Park Bar

This intimate, exposed-brick neighborhood hangout is known by locals for its great food, fine bourbon and craft beer selection. Located right next to Centennial Olympic Park, Park Bar has become a favorite destination before and after Downtown happenings. It is an official U.S. Soccer Bar.

Restaurant 10

This Black-owned restaurant cooks upscale Southern dishes, soul food and barbecue. Restaurant 10 is steps away from Mercedes Benz Stadium.

SkyLounge at the Glenn Hotel

Located on Marietta Street, SkyLounge at the Glenn Hotel sits atop the historic hotel. You get a rooftop view in a bar and lounge setting. Try sweet and spicy mixed nuts, chorizo flatbread or Bavarian soft pretzels.

STATS Brewpub

Stats Brewpub on Marietta Street bills itself as Atlanta’s Ultimate Sports Bar. If you’re going to down a few brews while watching the game, try the Everything Pretzel or the STATS Bushwood Beer Cheese Dip. Hungry for more? Pay tribute to the Atlanta Falcons when you order the Dirty Bird (crispy chicken, vinegar slaw and spicy mayo on a toasted brioche bun). Or just stick with fish and chips ( beer-battered cod, house slaw and New England tartar sauce.)

With a 50-foot travertine bar, expansive outdoor patio and hand-blown glass light fixtures, No Mas! is a great choice for enjoying a margarita or two before heading to the game. This restaurant is operating at a limited capacity in order to respect social distancing guidelines.

Elliott Street Deli & Pub

A neighborhood pub located in the shadow of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, this dive bar is known for its friendly indoor setting in a restored turn-of-the-century building. Elliot Street Pub creates hot and cold sandwiches made with Boar’s Head meats served on fresh-baked bread delivered daily. Find it on, well, Elliott Street.

Old Lady Gang

The Old Lady Gang began when husband and wife team, New York City native Todd Tucker and Atlanta native Kandi Burruss-Tucker, had the idea of sharing some Southern recipes. Burruss-Tucker, her mother Joyce Jones, aunts Bertha Jones and Nora Wilcox, affectionately known as the “Old Lady Gang,” created this restaurant. Stop in for fried green tomatoes, deep-fried whipped deviled eggs, shrimp & grits, and plenty more.

Paschal’s

Black-owned Paschal’s has been around for decades. It’s reputation grew during the civil rights era when city leaders met at Paschal’s over plates of fried chicken to discuss the pressing issues of the day. Paschal’s is still frying chicken and customers are still debating the news of the day.
