Shop Atlanta Attractions for Unique Gifts

Looking for unusual gifts? Try the gift shops at Atlanta attractions. Several suggest giving a membership so recipients can visit the attraction as often as they like. And note that some attractions do not require you to purchase a ticket in order to visit the gift shop. Don’t hesitate to ask.

Atlanta Botanical Garden

After strolling through Atlanta Botanical Garden, stop in at the gift shop, which is full of  all things horticultural. There are candles, garden ornaments and lots of books. Pick up a copy of “Atlanta’s Urban Oasis: the Atlanta Botanical Garden,” tracing the garden’s history and exhibitions with beautiful images.

Atlanta Hawks

State Farm Arena stocks lots of Atlanta Hawks-branded clothing. For men, there is a Mitchell + Ness Hawks Double Clutch Olive Satin Jacket ($140), a 47 Brand Hawks Superior Hockey Hoodie ($140) and more affordable items such as Hawks-branded T-shirts and a variety of Hawks-branded ball caps. Also at State Farm Arena, Killer Mike’s The Swag Shop Barbershop stocks T-shirts, hoodies and accessories. And, yes, you can get a haircut at the arena location during home games (walk-ins only). For women, there is the 47 Brand Hawks Go Big Oversized Crewneck for $90 plus jackets and hoodies.

Atlanta History Center

Atlanta History Center has an addictive museum store with an extensive book selection highlighting regional history. Peek at the evolution of the city in photographs in “Atlanta: Then & Now.” The Cyclorama Puzzle captures the Atlanta History Center’s famed exhibit – a 132-year-old painting of the Battle of Atlanta. For train aficionados, there are Texas locomotive custom crew socks, $18.

Center for Puppetry Arts

It’s no surprise that you can get Rudolph-themed gifts at the Center for Puppetry Arts as well as Jim Henson items. In case you don’t know, the Center for Puppetry Arts is home to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum where the Jim Henson Gallery explores the mind and legacy of animator, inventor, filmmaker, screenwriter and puppeteer Jim Henson. The gallery includes puppets, props and costumes from Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and more. In the gift shop, you can get stickers depicting early Jim Henson sketches and the book, “Jim Henson’s iMAGINATION ILLUSTRATED” by Karen Falk. Of course, every holiday season, the center presents “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” the adaptation of the 1964 stop-motion animated special. In the gift shop, find Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer ornaments and puppets. Another book to consider is “Goodnight, Goblin King” by S.T. Bende. Note: No ticket required to visit the gift shop.

Children’s Museum of Atlanta

The Museum Store at Children’s Museum of Atlanta has all sorts of educational toys bound to spark interest in your smallest gift recipient. Delve into a wide variety of interactive books, puzzles and building toys. A ticket to the museum is not required to enter and shop at the gift store, which is in the lobby.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History

The Museum Store at Fernbank Museum of Natural History is populated with prehistoric gifts, ranging from dig kits to dinosaur shirts, jewelry and figurines. Find science kits to keep the budding archeologist busy and discover geodes and toys. For the dino lover, you’ll need a triceratops tie or the Tacosaurus Rex taco holder, a must-have for any holiday gathering.

Georgia Aquarium

At the Georgia Aquarium gift shop, you’ll find marine-themed toys, apparel and decor. A youth hoodie sweatshirt with Georgia Aquarium printed on the front sells for $43. A turtle glass ornament costs $24. A Fahlo Whale Shark Tracking Bracelet, $23, enables you to track an individual whale shark. You will learn your whale shark’s name, story and get its picture and then follow its quest on an exclusive tracking map. Each purchase contributes to Georgia Aquarium championing endangered whale sharks and their conservation worldwide. The critters at the aquarium also suggest the following as gift ideas: for $75, you could adopt for someone a bottlenose dolphin, green sea turtle, Southern seat otter, whale shark or American alligator. You could give someone an encounter with a penguin, sea lion, Beluga or Harbor Seal. Or give a gift certificate to the aquarium. For $50, you could name a moon jelly for someone on your list.

High Museum of Art

Find prints, jewelry and art-themed home decor at the High Museum of Art gift shop. You also can get gifts linked to exhibits at the High. One example is the current Victor&Rolf exhibit. Related gifts include a signature T-shirt for $35 and a spiral notebook for $15.99. Several key rings linked to the exhibit sell for $11.99.

If you have been to the High, you’ll be familiar with the Sol LeWitt drawing in the Stent Family Wing, Robinson Atrium. You can get an umbrella with that same design for $35. Remember the Lichtenstein house outside the High? You can get a key chain depicting the house for $4 or these Lichtenstein house gifts: a drinking glass for $16.95, a coffee mug for $12.95, a magnet for $7.95, a tote bag for $15, kids’ socks for for $10.95 and adult socks for $14.95. An on and on are the fun gifts at Atlanta’s fabulous art museum where you need not buy a ticket in order to visit the gift shop.

If you are visiting Atlanta’s Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, stop by the gift shop. A few possibilities are: round Christmas ornaments for $8.; a bookmark for $4.50; American flag cufflinks for $15; and a key ring for $6.50. Also available: china, jewelry and gifts for kids.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield National Park

History buffs might like a gift from the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield National Park. Here are a few ideas: The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain poster for $14.99; a Juneteenth Celebration vinyl sticker for $3.99; or a Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park embroidered patch for $3.99.

Museum of Design Atlanta

Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) is the only museum in the Southeast dedicated exclusively to the study and celebration of design, and the MODA gift shop stocks a curated selection of high-quality design gifts. Here are a few examples: “A Tiny Guide to BBQ” by Chunky Deli is a bite-sized book that packs juicy wisdom into a spicy design. Perfect for grill masters and design nerds. The “Art & Sole” book presents a visual feast of sneakers as wearable art. Atlanta Traffic Game is stop-and-go fun with a side of road rage. The Calling for Mahjong candle invites you to light it up and let the games (and gossip) begin. The MODA Design hoodie shows off your ATL pride. If you tour World of Coca-Cola, you will exit through the gift store. Trust us, you will be tempted to buy something. If you just want to shop, you may enter the gift store without purchasing a tour ticket. Here are a few things you will find: For $8.95, you can get a personalized 8-ounce bottle of Coca-Cola. A Coca-Cola polar bear unisex onesie goes for $44.95. A cherry Coke cap necklace costs $24.95. Coca-Cola bottle pop drop earrings in white gold sell for $39.95. There’s no end to the fun things to buy.

Zoo Atlanta

There are so many affordable and fun gifts at the Zoo Atlanta gift shop. Here are just a few examples: a tiger or elephant ornament for $23; a gorilla keychain, $16; various animal stickers, $5; and a Willie B. mug for $21. There are socks and shirts and umbrellas. There are plush toys, building blocks and dolls.
