Free Things To Do In Atlanta On Monday, Tuesday Or Any Day Of The Week
Atlanta has plenty of free things to do, but we’ve pulled together a list of some different ideas that will mix up your routine without breaking the bank.
Yoga at The Battery
Find your Zen for free at The Battery, next to SunTrust Park, every Monday at 6:30 p.m. (as long as the Braves don’t have a home game). Meet in the plaza and don’t forget your mat. Check out more fun things to do at The Battery here.
Yoga on The Promenade in Piedmont Park
Get your free exercise in and enjoy one of the best parks in the city. Head to Piedmont Park for a free yoga practice on the fourth Monday of every month at 7 p.m.
TUESDAY (WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY)
Tour the Governor’s Mansion
The mansion has been home to Georgia governors since 1968 and is full of fascinating history about the state. In the heart of Buckhead, make your way through the three floors and 30 rooms, some with a guide and some on your own. Tours are free and available between 10 and 11:30 a.m. through November. The mansion tour is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Ponce City Farmers Market
Visit one of the only farmers market in Georgia used primarily by pedestrians and bicyclists, made possible thanks to its location right along the BeltLine. Vendors sell all kinds of handmade goods, food they’ve grown themselves and more. Head to “The Shed” outside of Ponce City Market and along the BeltLine every Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. through Oct. 29. Read here for more farmers markets throughout the city.
Run with the pack of all ages and levels every week. The running club is sponsored by King of Pops and free to everyone. Meet at the King of Pops window in Inman Park at 6:30 every Tuesday night through Oct. 29. Each week is a new trail, so it’s a great way to see the city and get your exercise in. There’s the added bonus of a free King of Pops after the run. Find more running trails here.
3 Parks Wine Shop Wine Tastings
Interested in knowing more about wine? How about free wine? 3 Parks Wine Shop offers a free educational tasting every Wednesday night. Try wine from three to four different bottles and discuss the grapes and regions behind the taste. Taste every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Yoga at Colony Square
Take a free class led by some of Midtown’s top yoga studios. Head to Midtown and get your Zen on every Wednesday night from 6 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 25.
Yoga at Atlantic Station
Take a midweek break with free yoga led by Evolation Yoga. The class is offered every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Millennium Gate Museum Courtyard at Atlantic Station. The class is open to all levels.
Kirkwood Eats & Beats
Try some delicious chow from food trucks and enjoy music in the historic Kirkwood neighborhood. Bring the whole family. Admission is free. The food truck roundup is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday through Nov. 21.
Castleberry Hill Art Stroll
Castleberry Hill, named one of the top 10 art districts in the country, is full of galleries and neighborhood restaurants that you’re sure to fall in love with. Enjoy a self-guided tour and experience all that the area has to offer every second Friday of the month. The stroll is completely free. Click here for more fun things to do in Castleberry Hill.
Freedom Farmers Market
Find organic, local products ranging from meats and produce to baked goods and even coffee. Find the diverse selection of locally grown products near the entrance to the Freedom Park at the Carter Center every Saturday year-round. (January-February from 9 a.m until noon and March-December from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
1AM Secret Show
Have a laugh with local comedians and a different lineup every week. The show at Smith’s Olde Bar is free every Saturday at 1 a.m. Click here for more comedy clubs throughout the city.
Stone Mountain Laser show
While you do have to pay for entrance to the park, the show featuring lights and music projected on the famous Stone Mountain is a must-see. Complete with lasers and fireworks, the show is free once you’re already in the park. Enjoy the modern show on the historic monument every Saturday through Oct.19.
Maker’s Market at Atlantic Station
Take a stroll through the market at Atlantic Station and find handmade jewelry, crafts, candles and much more. It occurs every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.to 9 p.m.
Yoga in Woodruff Park
Start your weekend on the right foot with a free hour-long yoga class every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. It’s open to all levels; just register online and bring your own mat out to Woodruff Park.
Second Sundays at The High
Explore one of the Southeast’s leading art museums for free. What better time to learn about art from all around the world and see current exhibitions? Admission is free on the second Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Read here to make a day of it.
Museum of Design Atlanta
Learn all about design for free on the second Sunday of each month. Located in the heart of Midtown across the street from the High Museum of Art, MODA, as it is known, is the only museum in the Southeast dedicated to the study and celebration of all things design.
Yoga in the Skatepark
King of Pops brings you free yoga every Sunday night at 7 p.m. through Oct. 27. Head to the park near the Old Fourth Ward Skatepark and enjoy an hour-long yoga session. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. for a meet-and-mingle before the class to get to know some new people.
Free Sunset Sessions Concert Series at Park Tavern
Park Tavern hosts a free weekly concert featuring alternative music throughout the summer. Enjoy the air-conditioned Garden Tent looking out on Piedmont Park while you listen to the live music every Sunday from 7:30 to 11 p.m. through Sept. 8.
